Project 366 – Weeks 2 & 3

It’s been a busy two weeks which is surprising considering I have already finished work in preparation for the new arrival later this month.

5. Not sleeping through the night is really beginning to get to me, I’m often awake from 5/6am, and this Sunday was no different. Except time vanished and suddenly we only had 15-20mins to get showered and out the house for our final child birth class. I was really comfy on the couch, with a grumpy Max cat who refused to join me and would rather sit with his back to me making little noises of frustration because I was no longer in bed. We were only 10 minutes late for the birth class! This was a big class 20 couples; of which out of 20 people we were only 1 of 2 couples under midwifery care, and the only couple who are hoping for a natural birth.

6. Marie Cat, oh Marie, I love her very much but she is our she-beast from the depths of the nether regions. Today she drove me crazy; biting, nibbling, meowing like it was the end of the world. She didn’t want to play, she didn’t want to be touched, she didn’t know where in the house she wanted to be. In the end I flopped on the couch in despair, and a lot of profanity, to which Marie jumped up onto the ottoman. Purred like she was the nicest cat in the world – gave me the occasional stink eye – and fell asleep for HOURS!

7. I can’t remember why I went to this coffee shop, called Downpour, as it is right by our old house. I really like it though, its locally run with locally baked muffins and you get a proper mug!

8. Max Cat has commandeered our Stokke Tripp Trapp baby seat. Currently set up with the newborn seat, which he loves. Only a few months though, and then we switch to the infant seat!

9. Snow was forcast, and snow is coming.

10. Ever get that sixth sense where you know someone or something is just staring at you? I was knitting in bed, as you do, and felt like I was being stared at. This freaks me out a little bit because our bedroom opens up to the yard – and I felt like I was being stared at from that direction. Then I spotted 2 little grey ears rise over the bottom of the bed, Max Cat.

11. We really enjoy playing games, sometimes it is hard to find games suitable for only 2 adults, but a number of years back a friend introduced us to both Munchkin and Fluxx. Both are staples in our home now. I found a Chemistry Fluxx for the Hubster at Christmas so we’ve finally opened it to play. Of course – when you have a game or puzzle that you are doing plus you live with spoilt cats you know you don’t have ling before your really nice set up is destroyed. Thank you Marie for joining us. (Yes I know we have a cat on the dining table – with this she-beast you choose which battles to fight and there are other battles we need to fight daily and this is one of the ones we leave).

12. The snow really is here, day and night view!

13. Both our cats are leash trained, and if they go outside they are on their leashes. Where we live is prime location for bob-cats, coyotes, bears – mainly black bears in neighbourhoods, and owls/hawks/birds of prey. The majority of cat owners keep their cats indoors, unless on farmland and then they usually have barn cats to catch the mice etc Here is a Marie Cat enjoying her time on the snow, Max was out briefly but he doesn’t like the snow.

14. Week 38 is here, that means we take the Birth Tub home from the midwives! Exciting! No sign of this baby vacating yet.

15. Snow. All the snow. Still snowing snow. I love the snow, but not when I’m unsteady on my feet due to a fat belly! Even my little winter town spikes wouldn’t make a dent in this. This is a photo out of the living room window. The snow kept coming!

16. Now this is the life! Marie loves, really loves, the fire. She will spend all day rolling herself from side to back to side and over again and again. A friend said to me its like shes rotisserie-ing herself!

17. I ventured out today! Someone ploughed the main road, and between Hubster and a couple of neighbours our drive way and little cul-de-sac was clear too. This is how deep the snow was in our yard!

18. Max cat was stalking something through the windows, making his cute little chirping sounds too, then I saw this huge squirrel!! Yard shopping list has been updated to include, squirrel proof bird feeder!

So this is the end of my two weeks in photos. I’m going to link up with some other people too, and be nosey at their lives!

  1. I’m a bit envious of all the snow. I do think that baby things are just the right size for cats – we have terrible problems with the Moses basket being used as a cat bed and my son never really got to use it as a result.

  2. Aww your cats are so beautiful. Love the pictures of the snow – so pretty to look at although not so much fun to walk around in, especially at 38 weeks’ pregnant. I had the birth pool in a box with my last baby. Good luck with your birth plans and hope all goes well when your little one arrives. #project366

  3. The snow looks amazing! But would definitely be a bit scary trying to walk in it at 38 weeks pregnant! I’m amazed at all those people not wanting a natural birth. It feels like most people in the UK want a natural birth (it’s probably at least half at any rate). I hope your birth goes to plan and look forward to reading your good news soon!
I’ve never seen a cat on a lead, but it makes a lot of sense with so many predators around.

  4. I don’t envy you being this pregnant with all that snow, exciting times are so close now!! So lovely to see photos of your cats again, they are beautiful. I wonder how they will react when baby arrives. Take care xx #366

  5. Exciting times ahead with the baby, glad you have the birthing tub at home, hope the snow doesn’t get too deep in the lead up to the birth. The cats make me laugh, ours just morphs into the room and scares the living daylights out of me. We’re moving our cat and dog to the UK in just over a week, they’re not used to much rain and they’ve never seen snow

  6. All that snow. Looks pretty but I’d hate to have so much regularly. Your cat is so sweet. I’ve never known cats to be let out on leads before – not something people have had to do with their cats in the places I’ve lived.

And wow the snow looks so pretty. We haven’t had any proper snow for a few years but am glad of that as hate driving in it!

  9. That is a lot of snow, we don’t get that much here at all. I love all your cat pics. Is she ready for the baby too?
